Selecting products builds the box and prices the subscription in one flow.

Strayz sells food for dogs and cats — a repeat purchase by nature, but only if ordering again is easier than not bothering. The brief was a page where a customer assembles their own box once and then receives it on a schedule.

What I built

A four-step builder that opens with the question that determines everything after it: cat or dog. That single answer filters the food, the treats and the portion sizes offered downstream, so nobody is scrolling past products for the wrong animal.

The selection then becomes a recurring subscription, wired into Recharge for the billing and delivery cycle. Choosing products, pricing the box and setting up the subscription all happen in one flow rather than across separate steps.

How it’s built

The builder is part of the theme rather than an embedded app. It ships with the theme’s own CSS and JavaScript, so there’s no iframe, no third-party script blocking render, and no separate stylesheet fighting the brand’s typography. Recharge handles what it’s good at — the subscription contract — while the interface around it is ours to control.

That matters for maintenance as much as speed: when the brand changes, the builder changes with the theme instead of needing a vendor’s template editor.
